Aric Almirola on Joey Logano: “I’ll have to talk to him. He just continues to make things harder on himself.”
Almirola is fired up for Phoenix and there’s a temporarily target on the #22 machine for Homestead
The barrels are pointed at Joey Logano. For the second week in a row, a driver is pissed off at the #22 car. Now, Logano has been issued two warnings in relation to the championship race in the NASCAR Playoffs.
Apparently, Logano can expect another call after the weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. **Though, in this case, I flat I have no idea what Almirola is speaking on. I just had to get that part out of the way.**

At the beginning of the race, Aric Almirola was sent to the tail of the field after qualifying 4th. He battled all the way back to the front.
On a restart with 32 laps to go, Almirola and Logano went into turn three, side by side but several feet apart while racing inside for 3rd. Almirola clipped the apron and went up the track. He nipped the back bumper of Logano. Both drivers saved it but Almirola lost a ton of positions.
“Fuck him! He’s already won a damn race!” Almirola screamed over the team radio as he dropped through the field and collected his machine.

After the race on Sunday, Almirola continued the dialog…
“We were a 3rd place car on that restart there. Where we finally were in position. We fought all day from the back. We started from the tail and worked diligently all day to get up to the front.”
“We finally got ourselves in position to at least have a shot to race with those guys. The #22 just went down into turn three and put it right on my door and about wrecked us both.”
“I’m not sure. I’ll have to talk to him. He just continues to make things harder on himself.”
Almirola is under the impression that Joey Logano hung onto his right side door going into the corner. He feels that’s why he got loose. But, Logano was several feet away from Almirola. He even moved up the track to get away from Almirola.
“If that’s the way he wants to race me when he’s already locked into Homestead and we’re out here fighting for our lives, that’s fine. When Homestead comes around, if I’m not in, he’ll know it.”
Currently, Almirola sits 57 points back of the cut off line. He’ll need to win at ISM Raceway if the #10 car will battle for the championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway in two weeks.
How far would you take it?
“I’d just make it really difficult on him,” Almirola continued. “He made it obviously really difficult on me today. Which was really unnecessary. He could have run 4th, 5th, 11th and it wouldn’t have mattered. He’s still going to go to Homestead and race for a championship.”
“It’s just not smart,” Almirola concluded.
Next week, NASCAR returns to a short track, kinda. The 1-mile oval of ISM Raceway has a new start finish line and some new grandstands. They’re set to host the final chance for drivers to claim the only two positions remaining in the Championship 4. Almirola needs a win.
Joey Logano has already advanced to the championship round via the win at Martinsville Speedway. Kevin Harvick clinched his position in the event with a win on Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway.
“I’m fired up, let’s go,” Almirola concludes.
