Gateway Truck Race Results: June 22, 2019

NASCAR Truck Series race results from Gateway Motorsports Park

Tonight, the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series lands at the World Wide Technology Raceway. The Illinois track formerly known as Gateway Motorsports Park sits just outside of downtown St. Louis, Missouri.

Qualifying was a washout and the starting lineup has been set by owner points. The field has only been on the track for a single practice session ahead of this race.

Christian Eckes and Grant Enfinger will set the front row. 160 laps of racing is up next…

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 35

Green flag, Eckes gets the jump. Enfinger blocks the inside lane. Enfinger fights back on the bottom and leads off turn two.

The caution is out as Gregory Rayl has caught the wall.

Green, Friesen gets the jump on the outside. Enfinger drives it deep to the bottom in turn one. Friesen cruises to the lead with the high side momentum off turn two.

Lap 21, Enfinger has a run on Friesen off turn two. He looks to the inside off the corner and completes the pass into turn three.

Grant Enfinger takes the win in stage 1!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 35

The field heads to the pit lane. Enfinger is first in and first off. Two tires for the first nice cars to the pit exit. Friesen will restart 10th with four tires.

Green flag on stage two, Enfinger leads off turn two. Crafton and Rhodes run side by side for 2nd, Crafton takes that position.

Myatt Snider has a run on Crafton. He looks to the inside in turn one and completes the pass for 2nd. Enfinger leads by a half second.

Lap 58, Snider has climbed to within a truck length of the race leader. He catches lap traffic at the wrong time and loses two truck lengths to the leader.

5 to go in stage two, Snider is back on the bumper of the race leader. Snider is moving around on the race track, trying different lanes.

2 to go, Snider is running higher to try and get a run off the corner. Maybe too high as he loses ground.

Grant Enfinger takes the win in stage two!

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 90

The field returns to the pit lane. Four trucks take just two tires. Eckes and Burton will lead them to the green. Enfinger is off 5th, the first truck with four.

Green flag on stage three, Chastain makes it three wide for 2nd into turn one, he takes the spot. Eckes is clear in the lead.

Lap 79, Natalie Decker is in the wall and the caution is out. Austin Wayne Self made contact and she went around off the corner.

Green, they run even at the line. Chastain drives it deep on the bottom into turn one. Chastain leads by five truck lengths off turn two.

74 to go, Chastain runs the top in turn one. Eckes heads for the bottom. They run even off the corner. Eckes completes the pass into turn three on the bottom.

50 to go, Eckes leads Chastain by 0.7 seconds. Pit stops will be coming shortly.

44 to go, Chastain has climbed to the bumper of the leader. Burton looks to the inside of Chastain down the back stretch, Chastain pulls down to block. They make contact and Chastain holds the 2nd position.

30 to go, Burton looks to the inside of Chastain off turn four. They remain side by side in turn one. Burton runs him wide but Chastain holds the position.

28 to go

28 to go, Eckes heads to the pit lane, two tires for him. 27 to go, Chastain heads to the pit lane, fuel only for Chastain.

20 to go, Kyle Benjamin leads but he’s yet to pit. Chastain runs 2nd. Eckes trails Chastain by 2 seconds.

17 to go, Ross Chastain cycles to the lead. Eckes trails the leader by 1 second.

15 to go, the caution is out! Burton got into Creed at the entry to the corner as he couldn’t hold it on the bottom. Creed then got into his right rear and turned him into the outside wall.

It’s going to be a 7 lap shootout for the race win.

Green flag, they run even into turn one. Chastain leads on the outside off turn two. Eckes holds 2nd.

3 to go, Chastain leads Eckes by two truck lengths. 2nd, 3rd and 4th run nose to tail.

Final lap, Todd Gilliland has a run on Eckes off turn four. Friesen gets into the back of Eckes in turn one and turns him around.
