Gresham Motorsports Park reopens in 2020

Late Model racing returns for the first time since 2014

Gresham Motorsports Park is a half-mile asphalt oval. The track sits in Jefferson, Georgia.

The track has gone through a wide range of ownership changes since it first opened in 1967. It was previously known as Jefco Speedway, Georgia International Speedway and Peach State Speedway.

In 1968-69, the NASCAR visited the track via the Busch Grand National Series. Those events were won by Cale Yarborough and Bobby Isaac.

In 1983, the World Crown 300 event was born. The late model stock car racing event became the big event for the track.

The NASCAR Busch Series also visited the track three times between 1986-87. Those races were won by Darrell Waltrip and Larry Pearson, who won it twice.

In 2009, currently track owner Jim Gresham unloaded a renovation project on the property. That included a brand new racing surface.

The track has not hosted a late model event since August 9, 2014.

Gresham Motorsports Park set to reopen

On May 16-17, 2020, the track is set to open the grandstands once again. Super Late Models will hit the track as the Southern Super Series rolls through in the pit gates.

The Southern Super Series has visited the track on five previous occasions. Bubba Pollard, Preston Peltier, Anderson Bowen and Casey Roderick have all visited victory lane at the track.

Bob Dillner of Speed51 and Tim Bryant of the Southern Super Series have inked a deal with track owner Jim Gresham.

“Bringing a track back to life is going to be very special,” said Bob Dillner, President of Speed51.

“Jim has given us his blessing; his facility was ahead of its time when he revamped the facility.  We are planning a huge event which culminates on the day after the NASCAR All-Star Race. “

“Just the fact that Gresham Motorsports Park will be racing again is important, not only to the state of Georgia, but the entire country.  We hear too many tracks becoming ‘Lost Speedways’ these days,” Dillner concluded.

Details regarding purse, other divisions, activities and a test date will be made available soon.
