Today, the NTT Indycar Series is set to tackle the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. The GMR Grand Prix is a 14-turn layout in reverse direction of the oval.

Race – Report

Green flag, Power gets the jump and he’s clear before the start finish line. Power played games at the launch and Harvey was caught out of sync, missing the launch.

Harvey throws a block on Graham Rahal and they make light contact just ahead of turn one. Four wide into turn one behind them, light contact there also.

Lap 10, Power leads Harvey by 1 second. Green flag pit stops are underway.

Lap 17, Will Power comes into the pits. Lap 18, Jack Harvey to the pit lane. Rahal is handed the lead.

Lap 22, Colten Herta has cooked the braking zone to turn one. He uses access road to re-enter the track in 9th.

Lap 25, the top four have yet to pit. Rahal leads Pigot by 14 seconds. There might be a mix of strategy playing out between Rahal and Power.

Lap 26, Rahal to the pits. Will Power has cycled back to the race leader. Power leads Newgarden by 4 seconds.

Lap 34, Scott Dixon heads to the pit lane.

Lap 36, Oliver Askew has crashed just ahead of the start finish line. The caution is out.

The backend stepped out on Askew off the final corner. He he tried to catch it, he clipped the grass and found the wall just before the entry to turn one on the oval layout of the track.

The leaders head to the pit lane under yellow. Power is first in and first off. But, he’ll restart in 14th.

Rahal, Dixon and many others will stay out as they pitted just ahead of the yellow flag.

Halfway

Green, Rahal leads. Pigot and Daly fight for space as they run side by side into turn one. He forces forces Daly off the track as they run off turn corner and Pigot takes over 2nd.

Trouble for Alexander Rossi. He can’t get the car to start fired. Rossi to the pits under green.

Lap 45, Rahal leads Pigot by 1 seconds. Scott Dixon is on the bumper of Pigot for 2nd.

Lap 48, Dixon has a run on Rahal into turn one. He uses the pass-to-pass and Dixon swings right by on the inside to take the lead into turn one.

Lap 50, Power has only moved up to 11th.

Lap 55, Rahal pits from 2nd. He trailed the leader of Dixon by 9 seconds ahead of the stop. Lap 56, Dixon hits the pit lane.

Trouble for Power! He stalls the car while exiting his pit stall. The crew is forced to push the car back to the box to re-fire.

Lap 63, Zach Veach is the last car to pit. Scott Dixon cycles back to the race lead. Rahal trails Dixon by 13 seconds.

13 to go, in the last four laps, Dixon’s lap time has slowed a full second. Rahal has three times what Dixon has left on push-to-pass button.

10 laps to go

10 to go, Dixon leads Rahal by 15 seconds.

5 to go, Dixon has opened the gap to Rahal, 19 seconds.

4 to go, Zach Veach is off track and in the grass as he cooked the braking zone while fighting Daly for 12th. He keeps it rolling, no caution.

2 to go, Dixon leads by 20 seconds and only 15 cars remain on the lead lap.

Final lap, Simon Pagenaud is all over the bumper of Rahal for 2nd. The backend steps out on both cars as they race on worn out tires.
