Lucas Oil Speedway results from the crown jewel dirt race
Tonight, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series unloads in Wheatland, Missouri. Lucas Oil Speedway is set to host the highest paying event of the season so far at $20,000 to win.

Last year’s event was canceled. This year’s was postponed but here we are, set for the first Show Me 100 in over 2 years.
The grandstands are packed on both sides of the race track. Thousands of fans are here to watch the greatest dirt late model drivers battle on the 3/8-mile oval.
Local racer Payton Looney will start the main event from the pole position. Ricky Thornton Jr will complete the front row.
Kyle Bronson and Hudson O’Neal take series provisionals. They’ll start from the tail.
The field lines up in a four wide salute. Fireworks blast, 100 laps of dirt track racing are up next…
Show Me 100
Report
The track has been completely reworked ahead of the main event. We’re looking at a track ready for qualifying.
Green flag, Looney leads into turn one on the bottom. Ricky Thornton Jr holds 2nd.
Lap 4, Buckingham to 2nd and he’s running down the leader.
Lap 6, Buckingham has caught the leader. Looney now runs the top, Buckingham drives right by on the inside.
Lap 16, Buckingham works heavy lap traffic. Buckingham runs the bottom as lap cars run two by two ahead of him.
Lap 20, Looney is all over the bumper of the leader. Buckingham drops to the bottom in turn three.
Looney heads for the top, he gases the center and Buckingham is forced to give him room off turn four. Looney carries the outside momentum to the lead at the flag stand.
Lap 28, Tyler Bruening is slow in turn four and the yellow is out.
Green, Looney leads Buckingham and Thornton Jr. Kyle Strickler and Jesse Stovall are working the top just behind them.
Lap 39, Strickler clears Thornton Jr for 3rd, he did it on the bottom.
Lap 50, Strickler is all over the bumper of Buckingham for 2nd. He can’t find a way by as they both run the bottom.
Lap 63, Looney leads Buckingham by 3.6 seconds.
Lap 80, Looney leads Buckingham by 3.1 seconds. Most of the field runs the bottom but a few are still making the middle and top work.
Lap 82, Strickler just flipped a switch. He jumps to the top and drives right by Buckingham for 2nd.
15 to go, Strickler is closing on the leader. He glued to the cushion in turn three then runs the bottom in turn one. Looney runs the bottom.
5 to go, Strickler continues to close but he’s running out of time.
