Richard Petty Motorsports brings in DoorDash for multi-year deal
The only African-American driver in the NASCAR Cup Series has been signing new deals left and right as he awaits a new contract with the No. 43 at Richard Petty Motorsports.
On Friday morning, it was announced that DoorDash has signed a multi-year deal with Richard Petty Motorsports with Bubba Wallace as the brand ambassador.
DoorDash brings deliveries from local restaurants to your front door. If the restaurant doesn’t deliver, DoorDash is the solution.
“The DoorDash symbol is synonymous with speed and technology and that’s what Richard Petty Motorsports intends to deliver with our No. 43 DoorDash Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE,” Wallace said.
The DoorDash $43 is set to make it’s debut as soon as this Sunday at Daytona International Speedway. They’ll be the primary sponsor of the #43 on the Daytona Road Course, NASCAR’s newest track.
“This partnership enables us to engage with the racing community through one of the most exciting and forward-thinking athletes in the sport,” Tony Xu, DoorDash chief executive officer and co-founder, said.
Xu added, “We’re proud to support an ambassador like Bubba with on-track excellence and off-track commitments and values that are so well aligned with ours.”
Weeks ago, it was announced that Richard Petty Motorsports offered Bubba Wallace a part-ownership role with Richard Petty Motorsports to keep him on the team. It remains unclear that he took that deal. But, the key phrase to the DoorDash deal is multi-year.
“From a business perspective, the addition of DoorDash expands our resources, enabling us to build the best team and in turn grow our organization at a pace that will enhance our ability to win races,” Brian Moffitt, chief executive officer at Richard Petty Motorsports, said. “DoorDash empowers businesses to grow, and this partnership is a direct result of that philosophy.”
Bubba Wallace is signing sponsors left and right. Weeks ago, the team brought Cash App into the sport in their first sponsorship of a pro sports team. Earlier this week, Wallace himself signed with Columbia Sportswear.
