Today, it’s the second of two races in Lexington, Ohio. The double-header weekend comes to a close with a Sunday showing at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Yesterday’s winner, Will Power spun in the rain during qualifying this morning. The red was thrown and Power was unable to complete a lap. Power will start deep in the field.

Colton Herta and Santino Ferrucci set the front row. 75 laps of open wheel racing are up next…

Race Report

Green flag, Herta gets the jump. Dixon looks to make it three wide for the lead in turn one but he lifts.

Ferrucci hangs on the outside of Herta out of turn one. Herta runs him to the grass. Ferrucci slides through the wet grass and re-enters the track in turn two.

Palou and Rosenqvist make contact with Ferrucci. Rosenqvist slams the barrier and comes to a stop. The full course yellow is out.

Penalty: Ferrucci will serve a penalty for avoidable contact.

Green, Herta leads Dixon into turn one.

Lap 16

Lap 16, green flag pit stops are underway. Dalton Kellett is stuck in the sand trap.

Many cars dive to the pit lane in a rush just ahead of the yellow. The caution is now out.

Sato and Andretti stay out. They’ll lead them to the restart.

Green, Sato leads. Ryan Hunter-Reay has a run on Dixon. They run side by side, Dixon misses the corner and sideswipes him as they enter the corner. Dixon holds the spot.

Lap 22, Dixon wiggles in turn one and misses the apex. He runs wide and jumps the curb off the corner. With one wheel in the grass, Dixon spins from 5th! He pulls the clutch and keeps it running, no caution. The point leader drops to 20th.

Lap 29, Marco Andretti is sideways into turn one! He clipped the grass on entry. He keeps it rolling through the sand trap, no caution.

Lap 31, Sato leads by a half second over Herta, Sato has yet to pit. Rossi is 5 seconds back in 3rd.

Lap 32

Lap 32, Sato pits from the race lead. Herta is handed the lead as Rossi is in pursuit.

Lap 46, Rossi pits from 2nd, harder black tires for him.

Lap 47, Herta pits from the lead and he brings Hunter-Reay with him. Softer reds for Herta while Hunter-Reay installs the harder blacks.

Lap 49, Herta cycles back to the race lead. Rossi trails by less than a second.

10 to go, Herta leads Rossi by just under 2 seconds.
