Lightning McQueen and Mater are set for a road trip
This week, Disney hosted their annual Investor Day presentation. It announces upcoming projects in the vast Disney portfolio.
Cars is an animated series that follows the tribulations Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) and Tow Mater (voiced by Larry the Cable Guy). The three films have collected $1.4B at the box office worldwide.
Pete Docter, chief creative officer of Pixar announced several upcoming projects for the company. Of those, three of them are series that will be coming to Disney+, their online media-streaming service.
In Fall 2021, a series called Dug Days will surface. This is a follow up series to the movie Up. It will follow the dog from the film as he discovers things like fireworks for the first time.
Cars is getting a new series. It remains untitled but the plot is that Lightning McQueen and Mater travel across the country on a road trip. The series will also join Disney+ in fall 2022.
This will be the first new Cars production since Miss Fritter’s Racing Skoool and Cars 3. Both the show and movie came out in 2017.
Win or Lose is a new story from Disney. The plot is a middle school softball team preparing for their championship game. Each episode will feature a different main character. This show will also come to Disney+ with an estimated release of fall 2023.
