Today’s practice session is the only practice session ahead of Daytona 500 qualifying. 500 qualifying will take place tonight.

Daytona Practice
Report

The green is out, three of the four Hendrick Motorsports machines hit the track immediately. Elliott, Bowman and Byron head for the track to make single car runs as Larson sits at the edge of the pit lane.

Stewart-Haas Racing is using a different strategy. Three of their cars have lined up early in a single file draft. Joe Gibbs Racing is using the same strategy in a different single file line.

10 minutes in, Bubba Wallace sits at the top of the times sheet! The new 23XI entry is glued to the bumper of Denny Hamlin, who owns the No. 23 machine.

Halfway in practice: 1. Bubba Wallace (45.057); 2. Martin Truex Jr (45.069); 3. Denny Hamlin (45.070); 4. Kyle Busch (45.084); 5. Christopher Bell (45.085); 6. Jamie McMurray (45.145); 7. Corey LaJoie (45.190); 8. Michael McDowell (45.236); 9. Ryan Newman (45.307); 10. Cole Custer (45.387);

Late in this session, the top 5 cars all locked out by Joe Gibbs Racing machines. Most of the Chevrolet’s are locked out as they continue to make single car runs and focus on qualifying setups.

Daytona practice has concluded and Bubba Wallace sits at the top of the board!
