Alex Bowman: “Help me Tom Cruise, I’m on fire” (Video)

Alex Bowman caught fire after winning the NASCAR race at Dover International Speedway

On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series visited Dover International Speedway. The Dover, Delaware track hosted the Drydene 400.

Watch the Alex Bowman fire video below.

Kyle Larson was dominating the race. He looked to be heading to a sure victory on the 1-mile oval.

However, on the final pit stop, Alex Bowman’s crew pulled off a pit stop a full second quicker that Larson’s crew. Bowman won the race to the pit exit.

After winning the battle into turn one, Bowman held the race lead. He held off his three Hendrick Motorsports teammates who finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th in a career first for the team.

Bowman now has two wins in 2021 after taking over for Jimmie Johnson. He’ll be heading into the playoffs with his new No. 48 team after changing over from the No. 88 over the off-season.

Bowman blew out the tires in the celebration. He burned them down, to the point that the rubber caught fire…

Alex Bowman comments

“We won Richmond, then had a really rough couple weeks there,” Alex Bowman stated to Fox Sports after climbing from his car for the first time in about 4 hours.

“We went to some really good race tracks for us and struggled. I told the guys, ‘We’re still the same team that did it at Richmond.’ “

“It feels right, to put the 48 back in victory lane, after how many races this car has run here. Mr. H is here. I don’t think I’ve won with him here, so that’s really cool.”

Jimmie Johnson has 11 wins at Dover International Speedway. All of which came in the No. 48 machine for Hendrick Motorsports.

Bowman added, “So proud of this pit crew. It was obviously a rough off-season for us. A big void to fill. Not that we’re ever going to fill the void.”

At this point smoke was billowing behind Alex Bowman.

“We’re on a lot of fire over here. I don’t know if somebody wants to come put that out? I kinda like this race car, I might want to keep it.”

“Help me Tom Cruise, I’m on fire!”

That line is from the movie Talladega Nights.

Bowman concluded, “That’s a big fire. Kinda worried.”
