Race 1 – Report
Green flag, Pato O’Ward clears Alexander Rossi into turn one.
Lap 3, many cars hit the pit lane to swap off the red tires. The soft tires fall off fast and many teams want them off the car. Teams have to use as least one set of those tires, obligation filled.

Lap 5, Josef Newgarden gets loose as he’s in a fight to save his car. He slows. Newgarden loses a tire as he coasts to the pit lane! Ryan Hunter-Reay brushes the wall as well.
Rossi pits, as Ed Jones takes over the lead.
Lap 8, Will Power looks inside of Jones in the battle for the lead. They’re both on the red tires.
Lap 12, Dixon has a run on Power. Power is on the red sidewalls and fading fast. Dixon drives right by with the harder black tires.
Lap 25
Lap 25, Felix Rosenqvist is in the wall in turn six with a throttle stuck! He jumps over the tire barriers and pushes the wall backwards in the process. The caution is out for the scary crash.
The safety team is taking their time to remove Rosenqvist from the machine. The temporary concrete barrier behind the tire wall is pushed over from the impact.
