Kyle Larson - Tiny Kyle - Kyle Busch tribute car

Kyle Larson says Kyle Busch called him “Tiny Kyle”

Kyle Larson explains the “Tiny Kyle” reference on the Kyle Busch tribute car at Las Vegas

Earlier this year, we tragically lost Kyle Busch.

This weekend, NASCAR returns to Las Vegas, the home of the Busch family. The No. 5 has been wrapped in a tribute to the late NASCAR champion.

The scheme mirrors Busch’s No. 5 Kellogg’s car when he made his NASCAR Cup Series debut with Hendrick Motorsports. Busch grabbed his first win in that schema back in 2005.

There’s some hidden details. Above the door on the driver’s side reads, “Tiny Kyle” while the other side is Kyle Busch’s signature.

Kyle Larson is 5 foot 6 inches. Kyle Busch was 6 foot 1 inch.

“That’s what Kyle and Brexton always would call me, so that’s what we put it on the car for the Charlotte weekend and we decided to do this and we had to put Tiny Kyle on there,” Larson said from the media center in Las Vegas. “That’s what Kyle always called me and then Brexton, he calls me that as well.”

The Busch family and the Larson family would regularly end up at the same dirt tracks. Their kids both race in the same events on a regular basis.

“I never minded it,” Larson added of the nickname.

“I always thought it was funny. It’s cool. It’s more like a joke on their behalf to me because Brexton’s about my size already. Kyle was much bigger than me, but I liked it for sure.”

“Yeah, I like it.”
