The NASCAR Awards show took place last week in Nashville, Tennessee. Ahead of the awards show, drivers took to the streets of Downtown Nashville to put on a burnout show under the city lights.

20 drivers took part in the show. Unlike previous years, the streets were wet. That made it fairly difficult for smoke plumes to form, especially true for the drivers that went early.

Alex Bowman suffered mechanical issues on his attempt. He almost immediately broke the transmission.
“That was embarrassing. I embarrassed myself greatly. My car wouldn’t stay in gear at all, very broken transmission. I got a dud. Hendrick Motorsports really let me down with our burnout car program,” Bowman stated with a smile.
Team Penske took a totally unique approach to burnouts. They sent Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney and Brad Keselowski out together. The three drivers lined up in a triangle and did burnouts while parked on each others nose.
Martin Truex Jr scored a solid 0.0 with his effort. The No. 19 driver broke his machine just a few feet into his burnout run.
The 2021 NASCAR champion driver Kyle Larson used his trademark burnout style. He disconnected the steering wheel, mid burnout and passed it off the his father who was in the passenger seat. His father then held the wheel out of the window.
Kevin Harvick: Burnout
Kevin Harvick stole the burnout show as he melted the tires to the rims. Harvick climbed from his machine and walked off the streets as the car was undrivable following his performance.
“Everybody tries to over complicate things in today’s world. I figured I’m going to drive it straight to the driest spot, then I’m going to floor it. My hope was that we could blow the tires and shoot sparks off the wheels. Only thing we didn’t accomplish were the sparks,” Harvick said.
Harvick added, “The tires were suppose to smell like apples. They soaked the tires in apples, for a week.”
Denny Hamlin knocks the wall
Denny Hamlin jumped right out of the gate with a bang. Within a few seconds, he spun right into a concrete barrier.
However, he didn’t just shut it down. Instead, he didn’t even let off the throttle. Hamlin jumped off the barrier and the burnout continued.
“Yeah, I didn’t care,” Hamlin stated. “Gotta lay on the fence. I knew the fans were safe.”
