Matt DiBenedetto drove the Wood Brothers Racing machine during the 2021 racing season. For 2022, the team is going a different direction with the signing of Harrison Burton.

The driver made headlines in the season finale event at Phoenix Raceway. He became the first active driver to state “Let’s go Brandon!”, a popular phrase from the grandstands which NASCAR has denounced.

Days after the event, the driver issued an apology.

DiBenedetto says he’s been discussing options for racing in 2022 with multiple teams. He says he’s also looking beyond the NASCAR Cup Series.

However, the driver has a set of criteria, beyond equipment. The driver has previously stated that he’s looking for a team that allows him to speak on issues he cares about, patriotism for example.

Matt DiBenedetto selling Lamborghini

The 30-year-old hasn’t announced a deal for 2022. Now, his 2015 Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 has gone up for sale.

“The time has come to sell my Huracan. This car has been so fun to own! I met amazing friends who have become family and made great memories,” Matt DiBenedetto stated via social media.

“It’s no secret that I LOVE cars but currently it doesn’t pass the “do I really need it” test as my father would say. I’ll sure miss this car but at the end of the day it’s just a car and I’m thankful to have had it! Thanks Chicago Motor Cars SC for working on finding her a good home!
