Talladega Race Results: April 23, 2022 (ARCA Menards Series)

Race Report

Green flag, they run side by side into turn one. Down the back, they trade side drafts at the front.

Lap 2, Dollar wins the battle as the inside lane forms on his bumper.

Lap 5, Heim leads a charge on the outside lane. He clears Dollar and drops to the inside to take over the race lead.

Lap 7, caution as Tim Monroe spins with a flat tire.

Green, Dollar gets the jump on the outside lane. He gets a push from Nick Sanchez into turn one, Dollar to the lead off turn two.

Lap 11, caution for fluid on the track as Brian Kaltreider has lost an engine.

AJ Moyer spins after locking up the brakes coming to the restart but the green is out. Green, Dollar leads. As they come back around, the caution is out.

Green, Dollar is clear into turn one.

Lap 24, Heim leads a charge on the outside lane with help from Parker Chase. They pull even with the inside lane. Heim and Chase clear the inside and drop down to lead the inside lane.

Lap 25, Drew Dollar moves to the outside lane with help from Nick Sanchez. Dollar is back to the lead.

Parker Chase throws a block on Greg Van Alst. Chase is jacked toward the infield. He saves it but he’s lost all his track position.

Race break

Lap 38, the race break caution is out. The field is frozen as teams are able to hit the pit lane.

Green, Dollar leads Sanchez into turn one.

Lap 50, Toni Breidinger gets turned following a bump draft from Richard Garvie. Breidinger slides across the track and collects Brayton Laster. Laster spins back across the track and Garvie jumps over him. A total of 7 cars are involved and the red flag is out.

Officials cut the roof off Scott Melton’s machine but the driver was awake and alert as they did. They put him on a stretcher and transported him to the care center.

Green, Dollar is clear into turn one with a push from Sanchez.

19 to go, Rajah Caruth leads a charge on the outside lane with help from Daniel Dye. They pull even with the inside lane at the front of the field. Caruth and Dye both clear and they drop to the inside lane, Caruth leads.

18 to go, caution for debris.

–Officials have decided that the next flag will end the race–

Green, Sanchez leads off turn two. Heim pulls even on the outside into turn three.

Gus Dean pushes Heim through the tri-oval. The backend wiggles but Heim stays in it and he’s pushed clear to the lead back in turn one. Heim leads Dean off turn two.

11 to go, they split Sanchez and he falls outside the top 10.

9 to go, Bret Holmes pushes Daniel Dye hard down the back. Dye noses ahead to the lead on the outside lane. He cuts to the bottom into turn three, not clear. Dye is around and the caution is out.

Nick Sanchez was the leader at the time of the caution and this race is over.
