In 2015, Kyle Busch broke his leg in an Xfinity Series crash at Daytona International Speedway. The race took place a day before the famed Daytona 500.

12 weeks later, Kyle Busch was back in the car. He made his return via Charlotte Motor Speedway. 5 races later, he returned to victory lane.

Busch completed the 2015 season with 5 race wins. That included the championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It was his first career NASCAR Cup Series championship.

That moment and more have been detailed in a documentary film. The film is titled ‘Rowdy’, after his nickname.

The film will debut in Nashville on June 23rd with a VIP screening event. The NASCAR Cup Series races at Nashville Superspeedway on June 26th.

The film will then be shown in theaters Nationwide for one night on June 29.

“Kyle Busch is a world-class competitor and for nearly two decades has shined as one of the biggest stars in NASCAR,” NASCAR Managing Director of Entertainment Development and Content Matt Summers stated via a release.

Summers added, “We’re thrilled to partner with Chance Wright, Utopia and Fathom in bringing Kyle’s story to life for all race fans to enjoy.”

“ROWDY is an incredible comeback story of perseverance, grit, and overcoming improbable odds,” said Chance Wright, Executive Producer of ROWDY. “Peeling back the curtain shows the truth in athleticism in NASCAR and Kyle. Hardcore fans of NASCAR will get as much out of this as the person who has never seen a race.”

Earlier this year, Kyle Busch tied Richard Petty for grabbing at least one win, in 19-straight seasons.

Utopia has acquired the rights to the film.
