Trackhouse Racing adds third NASCAR entry with Project 91

The driver of the car will likely come from a different type of motorsport

Trackhouse is more than a race team, they’re a brand. Everything they do is just a little bit different than anyone else.

The team currently fields two NASCAR Cup Series entries. The no. 99 is driven by Daniel Suarez and the no. 1 is driven by Ross Chastain.

The team spawned from a single entry in 2020. That was followed by the purchase of Chip Ganassi Racing in 2021, opening the door for the second full-time entry in 2022.

About an hour ago, the team announced plans to field a third entry at the Cup level. However, based on the limited promotion around it so far, it appears that driver will come from outside the traditional NASCAR ladder system.

In a video promoting the new car, they used video clips of F1, INDYCAR and RALLYCROSS. That leads us to believe the drivers of the no. 91 won’t likely come with an oval racing background.

Trackhouse Racing: Project 91

“No. 91 is here and ready to activate the intersection of NASCAR racing and global motorsport culture in a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.”

“Appearing at least once during a NASCAR Cup Series with surprise drivers, PROJECT91 is a program designed to push the guardrails and expand our international reach.”

“Who’s driving? PROJECT91 will announce its first driver and race in the coming days.”

Trackhouse Racing is owned by Justin Marks and rapper Pitbull.
