NASCAR starting positions set following heat races at Knoxville Raceway
Tonight, the NASCAR Truck Series will race on the dirt track of Knoxville Raceway. Four heat races are on deck, to set the starting lineup for the feature.

Format: Heat lineups have been set via a random draw. Passing points are also in play. For every position gained from their starting position, they’ll earn an additional point. The highest point earned from all four races will start on the pole position for the 150-lap main event.
After the heats, officials will work the track and prepare it for tonight’s main event.
With heat races complete, Derek Kraus will start from the pole position. Carson Hocevar completes the front row.

The first heat race of the night is on deck. Zane Smith and John Hunter Nemechek set the front row.
Green, they run side by side into turn one. Nemechek noses ahead on the outside off turn two.
10 to go, many trucks have a grill opening that completely covered. The track is tacky for the first heat of the night.
9 to go, Derek Kraus has been glued to the inside lane. He’s climbed from 8th to 3rd and he’s on the bumper of Zane Smith for 2nd.
8 to go, Smith slides Smith for 2nd. Smith crosses under him but can’t retake the spot, Kraus to 2nd.
John Hunter Nemechek wins heat one by 5 seconds!

Chandler Smith and Jessica Friesen set the front row for the second heat of the night.
Green flag, Chandler Smith is clear off turn two. Friesen holds 2nd.
12 to go, Hocevar is on the charge. He takes 2nd away on the outside lane!
9 to go, Hocevar is on the bumper of Chandler Smith for the lead. Chandler Smith shuts the door off turn two.
7 to go, Hocevar dives to the inside in turn three. He clips the berm. Hocevar completes the pass into turn one.
6 to go, Chandler Smith drives it deep into turn three! Hocevar slams the door shut and they make contact. Hocevar nearly spins but he saves it and holds the lead.

Green flag, Deegan drives it deep into turn one on the outside. She’s clear off turn two and drops to the inside in turn three.
Tyler Carpenter quickly moves to 2nd. He’s makes his NASCAR debut.
9 to go, Buddy Kofoid in all over the bumper of Carpenter for 2nd.
4 to go, Kofoid works inside of Carpenter for 2nd. He doors him and takes the spot away.
Hailie Deegan wins heat three at Knoxville Raceway!
