Kevin Meendering to serve as Kyle Larson’s crew chief

Kyle Larson already had plans to work with Meendering in upcoming Xfinity races

Kevin Meendering will sit on the pit box for the No. 5 team. He’s filling in for Cliff Daniels during his suspension. The team announced the new pairing on Monday.

Three crew members of the Hendrick Motorsports team were suspended following the loss of a wheel. The incident took place in turn two at Sonoma Raceway, directly following a pit stop.

10.5.2.6 of the NASCAR Rule Book: “Loss or separation of an improperly installed tire/wheel from the vehicle.”

Crew chief Cliff Daniels, jackman Brandon Johnson and front-tire changer Donnie Tasser are out for four races as a result of the penalty.

Meendering has the role of competition development manager for Hendrick Motorsports.

The crew chief previously worked with Elliott Sadler as the crew chief for the NASCAR Xfinity Series team at JR Motorsports. Elliott finished top-5 in series standings between 2016-2018 and won the regular season championship in 2017. The pairing grabbed three wins in 2016.

He also served as the crew chief for Jimmie Johnson in 21 races during the 2019 season.
