Matt Kenseth makes surprise announcement of a return to racing

The NASCAR champion is set to race an asphalt late model

Matt Kenseth is the 2003 NASCAR Cup Series champion. The driver is from Cambridge, Wisconsin, where he climbed the asphalt late model ladder.

Slinger Speedway is a 1/4-mile asphalt bullring. The track is located in Slinger, Wisconsin.

Every year, the track hosts the Slinger Nationals. It’s one of the biggest asphalt late model races of the season.

Last year, Kenseth was inducted in the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

On Wednesday, Matt Kenseth announced that he’ll participate in the 2023 event. The race takes place on July 11, 2023.

Kenseth stated via social media, “About time Lance broke some news! Hope to see everyone at Slinger Super Speedway on July 11 for the Slinger Nationals.”

Kenseth ran the 2022 event. William Byron was the race winner.

The driver was recently named to NASCAR’s 75 greatest drivers list.

In other Kenseth news, the driver will also race in the SRX event at Eldora Speedway. That race takes place on the dirt on Aug. 10th.
