Cole Custer returns to the NASCAR Cup Series

Rick Ware Racing has signed Cole Custer

In 2020, 2021 and 2022 Cole Custer ran full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series for Stewart-Haas Racing. He collected 1 win in 108 races with the team.

For 2023, Custer was moved to the Xfinity side of the Stewart-Haas Racing shop. Ryan Preece was signed to the Cup side of the organization.

Last weekend, Custer drove to the win in the Chicago Street Race. It was his second win of the season.

Now, the 25-year-old will return to the NASCAR Cup Series.

Starting this weekend, Custer will drive the No. 51 Jacob Companies Ford Mustang at Atlanta Motor Speedway for Rick Ware Racing. Custer will drive for the team in two other events last this year.

Cole Custer comments

“It’s great to be getting back into a Cup car again,” Custer said.

“I can’t thank Rick Ware Racing enough for this opportunity. RWR is building a solid program and I’m happy to help keep it growing in the right direction.”

Custer added, “It’s fun to be part of their group and hopefully we’ll have some solid runs together.”

Rick Ware comments

“We have put a lot of effort into elevating our program the past two years and having Cole come race with us again is great for the team,” said Rick Ware.

“He has won at every level he’s competed in and is having a strong season in the Xfinity Series this year. We’re hoping to capitalize on the momentum of Cole winning two of the last three NXS races, and we look forward to getting started together in Atlanta.”
