NASCAR changes pit lane procedures for Atlanta Motor Speedway

NASCAR has also adjusted the DPV policy

In 2022, Atlanta Motor Speedway saw a total transformation. The track added banking and became more narrow and became NASCAR’s first 1.5-mile superspeedway.

During the reconfiguration, pit lane was altered. The length of pit lane was extended to turn 3.

During the March race weekend, pit lane speed limit was 45mph for the full length of the pit lane. This saw cars pitting during green flag conditions go multiple laps down.

For this weekend’s event, NASCAR has changed those limits. In sections 1 and 2 of the pit lane, the new speed limit is 90mph during green flag conditions. Sections 3-18 will remain 45mph.

During caution periods, sections 1 & 2 will revert to a 45mph speed limit.

Damaged Vehicle Policy

NASCAR has also amended the Damaged Vehicle Policy ahead of the race weekend. 1 additional minute has been added.
