On Thursday night, Stafford Speedway hosted the SRX Series. The series ran at the track in back-to-back race weekends after a cancellation at Thunder Road Speedbowl.
Many drivers struggled with braking issues in Thursday’s main event. Ryan Preece lost brakes while leading and tagged the wall. Later in the race, Tony Kanaan did the same thing, slamming the outside wall.
Late in the race, Marco Andretti ran into the bumper of Tony Stewart. And after the race, Stewart issued a warning…

Tony Stewart comments after a bump from Marco Andretti
“It was somewhat uneventful where I was at in the main event,” Tony Stewart told ESPN after the race.
“It looks like our brakes were a lot better than some. Some guys had brake problems.”
“With the radials we have this year, it’s a little bit better tire than the bias-ply. It’s a little bit taller tire too. The motors don’t engine brake as much as they did with the smaller tire. Just the pace is quicker with the radials. When the pace is faster, you use more brake.”
“When you look at how good Tony Kanaan was tonight, Marco Andretti was good at the end… He likes to use the bumper a little bit.”
“When you watch this replay. I’m going to start using your ass up bud,” Stewart added in a personal message to Andretti.
Stewart added, “I’ll just move him when I need to. That seams to be his M.O. He’s going to get a dose of it back.”

Marco Andretti comments
“They were stick long,” Marco Anderetti referred to his brake pedal.
“Which is why I clobbered Stewart there at the end. So, he’ll be a little mad at me.”
He added, “He backed the corner up and the pedal went went down. That wasn’t intentional.”
Ken Schrader talks SRX Racing
“It’s fun. But boy, they’re brutal,” Ken Schrader comments on racing in the SRX Series.
“They bounce off one another. You can tell they don’t own these things, that’s for sure.”
