NASCAR driver denied entry at Michigan International Speedway

18 year old driver comments after his entry was rejected

This weekend, NASCAR is racing at Michigan International Speedway. At 2-miles, it’s one of the larger ovals on the schedule.

Leland Honeyman Jr was scheduled to race in this weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Michigan International Speedway. He was set to drive the No. 44 for Alpha Prime Racing.

18-year-old Honeyman Jr is a newcomer to the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He’s run 5 races this season, split between Alpha Prime Racing and Emerling-Gase Motorsports.

However, NASCAR has stepped in and blocked his entry for the weekend.

Honeyman Jr tweeted, “Unfortunately we didn’t receive approval to run Michigan this weekend from Nascar. Thank you to eighthorder for everything! But I’ll be cheering on Mason Massey and the alpha prime drivers. I’ll see you in Kansas.”

Alpha Prime have announced that Mason Massey will drive the No. 44 this weekend.

Mason Massey responded, “Hate it for you man, go get em at Kansas.”

Honeyman Jr has plans to race at Kansas Speedway and Miami later this season.
