Race Report
Green flag, Rahal gets the jump and they form three wide for 2nd. Devlin DeFrancesco out brakes them all for row three and he’s even with Rahal on the outside into turn one! He has the inside for turn two, DeFrancesco leads!
Marcus Armstrong, Alex Palou, Romain Grosjean, Scott Dixon, Colton Herta and Josef Newgarden tangle on lap one. Armstrong turned into the corner, clipped the nose of Palou and the field stacked up behind them. The caution is out.
Newgarden will be trapped a lap down.
Green, DeFrancesco leads Rahal into turn one.
Lap 9, Rahal has a run on DeFrancesco into turn one. He clears him via the inside lane. Alenader Rossi takes over 2nd.
Lap 12, Palou dives inside of DeFrancesco. They bang wheels off the corner but they both keep rolling.
Lap 33, the first pit cycle is complete. Rahal cycles back to the lead, Lundgaard trails by 2 seconds.
Lap 55, Scott Dixon leads Rahal by 6 seconds. Dixon is on an alternative strategy.
Lap 60, Dixon pits for the final time. Rahal returns to the lead.
23 to go, Rahal pits for the lead. Dixon cycles to the race lead!
15 to go, Dixon leads Rahal by 3.6 seconds.
10 to go, Dixon leads Rahal by 2.6 seconds.
5 to go, Dixon leads Rahal by 1.5 seconds.
3 to go, Dixon leads Rahal by two car lengths!
1 to go, Dixon opens the gap to five car lengths into turn one.
Rahal closes the gap into turn 7.
Scott Dixon holds him off and wins at Indianapolis!
