And last weekend at Indianapolis, the 47-year-old stated that he’s been battling an injury during his final season.

The NASCAR driver revealed that he’s been racing his final season with broken ribs. He sustained the injury on a flight of stairs.

Harvick has been traveling the world with his son Keelan who runs open wheel karts. The injury occurred while in Italy.

Harvick revealed that Nashville and Chicago were the first races since the injury. He noted those weekends were “rough”.

“The guys have done a good job in making something out of it, put ourselves in position to have a chance to win a couple of races,” Harvick told NBC Sports.

“Had some bad ones and some good ones, kind of fought … and scraped and worked through an injury after the break.”

Harvick has run 814 NASCAR Cup Series races. He’s collected 60 race wins in his career.

The driver started running with Stewart-Haas Racing. He then became the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion.
