George Bessette Jr comments

The driver posted the following statement:

“The actions at Thompson this weekend were a shock to many, especially our family and fans. Mad Dog Racing, despite the name, is NOT a team that supports or condones behavior shown Sunday night.”

“Any actions detrimental or harmful to any of our fellow competitors, fans, safety personnel, is strongly condemned by everyone involved in our operation.”

“As for the crew that was involved in the defense of our driver: Ted Anderson, our car owner, is thankfully okay. No injuries.”

“Uncle Phil, ‘helmet guy,’ is doing well, but has serious facial injuries.”

“George Sr, father / crew chief / 39 car owner, is sore but not seriously injured.”

“We have in been contact with the Connecticut State Police since Sunday night. We do not want to see another competitor/team have to go through what our driver and team went through that night.”

“On a positive note, your 2023 SK Light Champion is recovering physically and mentally, but is okay. He has received his diploma, and has earned the ‘Mad Dog’ title this weekend. Move over Sr, you’re “Dad Dog” now.”

“If anyone at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park this weekend found our drivers headsock in the infield, it would be greatly appreciated if it was returned.”

Therefore, NASCAR views a Member’s conduct, both on and off the race track, which might constitute a behavioral Rules violation under the Rule Book with great importance.

12-8.1 : Member Conduct Guidelines

C-2. : Member-to-Member confrontation(s) with physical violence and other violent manifestations such as significant threat(s) and/or abuse and/or endangerment;

E-1. : Actions by a NASCAR Member that NASCAR finds to be detrimental to stock car racing or NASCAR.

Multiple tracks ban Sam Rameau

Lee USA Speedway, Hudson Speedway and Claremont Motorsports Park all ban the driver:

“After careful review of the events that transpired at Thompson Speedway during the World Series we feel as if allowing Sam Rameau, Randy Rameau and team to compete at our facilities would be condoning the horrible actions of his team,” stated Benjamin Bosowski, the owner of all three tracks.

“What transpired there was a detriment to stock car racing and we will not allow it at our facilities.”

“As of today’s date, they are all banned from Claremont Motorsports Park, Hudson Speedway and Lee USA Speedway indefinitely, that includes participating in our events, lease events or any function at the facilities.”
