Matt DiBenedetto walks on sponsor just ahead of NASCAR season

The driver is still looking for a ride after the deal fell through

Update: This post has been updated below with new statements from DiBenedetto

Matt DiBenedetto spent 7 years in the NASCAR Cup Series. He bet on himself, leaving a ride at Go Fas Racing and was then signed by Leavine Family Racing. That led to a two year deal with Wood Brothers Racing.

Hear from Matt DiBenedetto below.

Following the 2021 season, DiBenedetto was out of a ride once more. He found a new one in the NASCAR Truck Series with Rackley WAR, picking up a win at Talladega in 2022.

Last season, Matt DiBenedetto was suppose to run full-time in the NASCAR Truck Series. However, that deal was cut short as Rackley WAR pulled him from the No. 25 the week after he was eliminated from playoff competition.

“Getting ready for 2024. Wanted to give you guys a delayed update,” Matt DiBenedetto stated via social media.

DiBenedetto has 19 top-10’s in 43 NASCAR Truck Series starts.

He added, “I appreciate you guys patience, it’s been a crazy few weeks. For those who are not patient and were starting to get a little hostile with us. I was not leaving you guys in the dark.”

“Either way, it’s all good.”

“It’s been a crazy few weeks. We had a sponsor deal that we decided to pull the plug on and move forward from. Everything will work out exactly how it’s suppose to.”

“Our life is good. Please don’t feel bad for us. There’s nothing to feel bad about.”

“We’re going to have to let racing stuff for 2024 play out. Part-time, whatever opportunities fall our way. Sorry for not giving you better news than that. But, it always will all work out exactly how it’s suppose to.”

He concluded, “We will keep you updated throughout the process on everything.”

Matt DiBenedetto provides a more transparent update

It’s been a few days since the update above. On Tuesday, DiBenedetto elected to clarify his statements:

“I was treading lightly cause it was all fresh. Just covering all bases and stuff,” DiBenedetto added.

Further update, not that it matters. But, I always like to be truthful with you guys.”

“The reality of it is we had a signed, pretty big, sponsor deal. And, they lied and didn’t follow through on their end.”

“That’s why we had to pull the plug. Unfortunate, but you got to drive and race out the front windshield and not the rear. Got to live life that way.”

“I’m at peace with it all. Everything will work out.”

“It’s been a crazy last month or so. That’s why I have extra wrinkles on my forehead.”
