The former NASCAR driver ran a test session today at Orange County Speedway
Ward Burton ran 375 races in the NASCAR Cup Series over a 13-year career. He ran his last Cup race in 2007.
Since then, Ward has all been absent from behind the wheel. He made a one-off start in the NASCAR Truck Series back in 2012, finishing with a top-10.
However, his son Jeb Burton has been trying to get him out of the woods and back into the driver’s seat. And, for 2024 that plea has been successful.
On March 28, Burton is returning to the racetrack. He’ll race at the Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC.
Today, Ward made the trip to Orange Country for a test session.

Ward Burton comments during late model testing
“At the Orange County, first day testing,” Ward Burton in a video posted to social media.
“Jeb and HC own this car together. We’ve got a good direction of what the car needs. Fighting a really tight, it doesn’t want to follow the input of the wheel.”
“I’ve gotten a little bit better as the day goes. Got a lot of improvement to get better yet.”
The track commented, “Awesome to have Ward Burton back making laps at OCS!”
