Ward Burton is returning to racing

At age 62, Ward Burton is getting back behind the wheel

Ward Burton is a winner of the Daytona 500 and the Southern 500. With 375 starts in the NASCAR Cup Series, Burton has five race wins. Burton retired following the 2007 season to live in the woods and chase snakes full-time.

Orange County Speedway is a 3/8-mile paved oval. The track located in Orange County, North Carolina is billed as ‘America’s Fastest 3/8-Mile’.

The track is hosting the Orange Krush 200 on March 28th. The event will pay $15,000 to win.

Ward Burton won a Busch Grand National Series event at the track. Now, he’s set to return to the bullring oval for a one-off special event.

Ward Burton stated via social media, “It’s happening…..Jeb Burton convinced me to get back behind the wheel. Excited to have some fun Orange County Speedway for the Rogers Heating & Cooling Orange Krush 200.”

“I’ll be driving the Sellers-Burton-Racing car!”

Proceeds from the event benefit the The Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation.
