NASCAR driver Joey Logano knocks F1 during broadcast (Video)

Joey Logano, Austin Cindric talk F1 vs NASCAR during LIVE broadcast

NASCAR recently completed a race weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

NASCAR Cup Series drivers Austin Cindric and Joey Logano found themselves in the broadcast booth for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race. It led to a knock on Formula 1.

With under 50 laps to go, Riley Herbst was in pursuit of John Hunter Nemechek for the race lead. At the time, he trailed by less than a second.

In Formula One, when drivers are within a second of the driver ahead, they have more options. A steering wheel button opens a slot on the rear spoiler, drastically reducing drag, usually on the longest straight-away.

NASCAR has no such option. But, it came to mind…

“He’s got a chance here. As long as he stays relevant, stays within that one second, Formula 1 DRS range,” Cindric said.

Logano laughed and responded, “What?! We’re not doing that! This is so much better than that!”

Cindric added, “100% agree.”

The race fans of NASCAR and F1 regularly clash on social media. It was the driver’s turn to join the conversation.
