Hudson O’Neal abruptly departs the Rocket Chassis house car

Hudson O’Neal comments after exiting the Rocket 1 Racing team

Update: Tim McCreadie has signed to driver the Rocket1 Racing car

For the almost two years, Hudson O’Neal has been the pilot of the Rocket Chassis house car. Now, the driver is departing the Rocket1 Racing team.

O’Neal took the No. 1 team to victory lane 15 times. That includes the World 100 win at Eldora Speedway.

O’Neal also won the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Championship while racing for Mark Richards.

The departure comes at an odd time. The 2024 has only recently begun. In the 20 races during Speedweeks, O’Neal went to victory lane four times and grabbed 15 top-10s.

O’Neal is currently 2nd in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series standings.

Hudson O’Neal comments

“Without divulging any details, I have decided to part ways with Mark Richards Racing Inc. and Rocket1 Racing,” Hudson O’neal stated via a team release.

“As hard of a decision as it was for me to make, I believe this was the best decision for myself.  With everything I was able to accomplish within the last year or so with Rocket1, there is no possible way for me not to be thankful for Steve, Sherre, Mark, Danny, Austin, Joel, and everyone back at Rocket Chassis for everything they have done for me. Thank you for your dedication.”

“As for my future plans, I really don’t have any at this point in time,” O’Neal added.

“I am certain I will be back on the track again soon, but no concrete plans are in place moving forward.  I also can’t thank all of my loyal fans enough for the continued support. Next weekend at Brownstown Speedway during the Indiana Icebreaker, I will be doing something huge to give back to all involved.”

He concluded, “We will keep everyone updated on any future racing plans on social media and our website!”

Update: Hudson O’Neal has a ride for next weekend

On Friday, O’Neal posted the following update:

“As we continue to go through this process, we would like to state that we have Officially lined up a very Temporarily Deal for Next Weekend for our 2 Lucas Oil races at Atomic and Brownstown,” O’Neal stated.

“Without going into details, as we feel like this is the right thing to do as a family. We understand that our roll in the industry is fan base oriented, but we do like to keep some of our life private if we can.”

“As far as my departure from Rocket1, there are no secrets! It was just a difference in where I thought my career and life needed to be! There was nothing that took place that caused mine and Rocket1’s split other than just a difference in vision!”

“We hope that this is going to take all of the rumors to an ease! But just know deep down it was one of the hardest decisions to make for myself moving forward. As for myself, Tessa, our family, and sponsors we are very excited for the future.”

He concluded, “We hope to see all our fans at the track next weekend.”
