NASCAR playoff driver disqualified after the finish at Talladega Superspeedway
On Saturday, the NASCAR Xfinity Series raced at Talladega Superspeedway. The race was event two of three in the Round of 12 for the Playoffs.
After the event, all playoff cars are inspected.
Sam Mayer failed post-race inspection. The car was found to be too low in the rear suspension.
The No. 1 car for JR Motorsports was hit with a ride-height violation.
With the violation, Mayer will be credited with a last place finish.
The No. 1 car earned 24 points throughout the race. Following post-race technical inspection, he will be credited with just 1 point.
Additionally, one lug-nit was found to be loose on the No. 81 car driven by Chandler Smith. The Joe Gibbs Racing team will be handed a fine later in the week.
The Round of 12 will conclude next week at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The race will be run on the Roval.
