At the start of the day, Kyle Larson planned to race 1,100 miles. It started with the Indycar race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. A jet plane and helicopter ride later, Larson would land in Concord, North Carolina for the NASCAR race.

The day didn’t start off well. Larson spun on a restart during the Indy 500. He ended the race in a crash.

After the plane ride, Larson started on the front row for the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. After an early battle, Larson took the lead away.

On lap 38 of 400, Larson got loose off turn four. He wiggled and bounced off the outside wall before sliding through the infield from the race lead.

The No. 5 team brought Larson to the pit road several times. They made repairs, fixing the toe on the car.

On lap 246, Larson had mostly repaired his machine. However, Ryan Blaney, Chase Briscoe and Daniel Suarez ran three wide ahead of him off turn four. As they ran out of room, they all three tangled.

As Suarez spun across the track, he clipped the right rear of Larson. The No. 5 team was junked. Larson drove it to the garage, ending his day.

The NASCAR race is still ongoing.

Kyle Larson comments

“I saw some smoke and I tried to get left through the infield and I just didn’t get far enough,” Kyle Larson told Prime Video.

“I got tagged and it ended our night. So, a bummer of a day, all around.”

“Super loose into three and caught the wall. Toe damage but I thought the team did a good job to get us back to where we were somewhat comfortable the last 100 laps.”

“Just needed to kind of chip away at it. I thought we could still end up okay. But, not the day that I wanted.”

“Unfortunate, hopefully we can run it back some day.”
