“Without help this accident will be nearly impossible to recover from.”
It’s NASCAR weekend at Iowa Speedway in Newton. On Friday, the race weekend opened with the ARCA Menards Series.
Clubb Racing Inc with driver Alex Clubb chased a vibration in the race. They then cut a tire and went several laps down for repairs under green.
On the way home, the team suffered a highway accident. According to the team the driver of the teams dually truck fell asleep at the wheel.
The trailer flipped on Interstate 80 with the car inside. It was then struck by more than one semi as it was on its side.
The hauler, truck and racecar are all heavily damaged. The team estimates damage near $80,000.
Everyone involved in the accident has been reported as okay according to the team.
Clubb Racing is a small team based in Illinois. They have now setup a GoFundMe to help them return to the track.

Clubb Racing comments
“Really bad night coming home along I80 in Illinois,” Clubb Racing Inc stated via social media.
“Thankfully everyone involved is ok. Unfortunately most if not all of our equipment for the 03 is destroyed.”
“This morning around 1am one of our team members fell asleep while we were traveling back from the race at Iowa speedway.”
“Unfortunately in the accident our rig flipped and was stuck across the right east bound lane of I 80. Several semi trucks stuck our trailer causing further damage to everything.”
“Unfortunately our trailer and most of our equipment we travel with for race day is heavily damaged or destroyed.”
Team seeking help
The team has setup a GoFundMe page to help rebuild.
“Our car is heavily damaged because they were unable to rotate it at the scene. Our trailer with car was loaded onto a roll back on its side and transported around 30 minutes to the tow yard. Unfortunately we are stuck with a wrecked truck, destroyed trailer and equipment, a badly damaged race car, and a basically $8,000 tow bill.”
“To fix or replace everything that is messed up is probably $80,000. I’m very thankful that everyone is ok and nobody was injured.”
“I’m not one to ask for help but unfortunately we need it. We have worked so hard to get a decent program together and now half of that is gone. If you can help us I would greatly appreciate it.”
They concluded, “Without help this accident will be nearly impossible to recover from.”
Over $2K has already been raised of the $6K goal. Click here to view the GoFundMe page.
The next ARCA Menards Series race is schedule for next weekend at Watkins Glen International. Alex Clubb is 6th in ARCA standings with 1 top-10 in the 12 races so far.
Last week, Mike Harmon Racing also suffered from hauler issues en route to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In that situation, the team requested help from fans and was able to make it to Indianapolis.
