Rocket 1 Racing is fielding a car for Josh Richards this weekend at Lernerville Speedway
Josh Richards is a five-time National Late Model champion with his most recent title in 2017. And after a lengthy absence from the sport, he’s sit for a return.
Richard went dark and disappeared from the sport following the 2022 season.
Earlier this month, video surfaced of the now 37-year-old testing the Rocket Chassis house car at Sharon Speedway. However, until now, no dates for his return to racing were announced.
This weekend, Richards will race at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. He’ll race in the $10,000 to win preliminary night on Friday. On Saturday, the track will host the finale of the Hillbilly 100 paying $30,000 to win.
This will be Richards’ return to the team owned by his father Mark Richards. He drove the team to the World of Outlaws champion in 2016 but that was the last season he raced for the team.
He then went on to claim the 2017 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series championship with Best Performance Motorsports in 2017.
