Firecracker 100 results from the $50,000 to win finale at Lernerville Speedway for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series

It’s the final night of a three-day show in Sarver, Pennsylvania for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The national dirt late model drivers are set to race for $50,000 to win on the 4/10-mile of Lernerville Speedway.

Defending race winner Tim McCreadie has unloaded a backup car ahead of the heat races. He might have hurt the motor during hot laps. He followed that up with a heat win and now he’s rolling into the main event.

Jonathan Davenport and Ricky Thornton Jr set the front row for the main event. 100 laps of dirt track racing in the 17th annual Firecracker 100 are up next…

Race Report

Green flag, Davenport slides Thornton Jr into turn one. Davenport leads the field down the backstretch.

Lap 17, Davenport works heavy lap traffic. Thornton Jr has closed to his bumper.

Lap 25, Mason Zeigler has sliced through the field. After start 24th, he’s up to 12th.

Lap 32, Tim McCreadie slows and the first caution is out. He heads to the pit lane.

Green, Davenport leads Thornton Jr.

Lap 34, Logan Zarin is around, caution.

Green, Garrett Alberson spins in front of the field in turn two. He collects Alex Perree, John Garvin Jr and Earl Pearson Jr. The red flag is out as the track is blocked. All drivers are ok.

Green, Davenport leads as Thornton Jr and Hudson O’Neal run side by side for 2nd.

Lap 45, Thornton Jr looks inside of Davenport in the battle for the lead. Side by side for the lead. Hudson O’Neal sticks his nose inside of both of them to make it three wide for the lead! Thornton Jr wins the battle!

Davenport and O’Neal make light contact as they battle for 2nd.

Lap 51, O’Neal looks inside of Thornton Jr for the race lead. The run side by side through lap traffic. O’Neal to the lead.

Lap 55, Thornton Jr boxes O’Neal in behind lap traffic. O’Neal takes the lapper three wide to remain side by side for the lead.

Lap 57, Thornton Jr returns to the lead as O’Neal is trapped behind a lap car on the bottom lane.

O’Neal is glued to the bottom lane. He’s sticking his left front over the inside berm to use every inch of the moisture. Thornton Jr is exploring different lanes. O’Neal is closing.

30 to go, Thornton Jr runs wide off turn four. O’Neal works inside and he drives by to take the lead away once more.

25 to go, O’Neal is boxed in behind lap traffic. Thornton Jr pulls back alongside and Thornton Jr retakes the lead!

10 to go, Thornton Jr leads O’Neal by 3 seconds.
