Portsmouth Raceway Park is up for sale

Famed Ohio dirt track is up for sale heading into 2026 after a year hosting no events

Portsmouth Raceway Park is a 3/8-mile dirt track located just over the Kentucky border in Portsmouth, Ohio. The track held the famed Dirt Track World Championship for several decades.

The Coleman family has operated the track since Boone Coleman built it in 1990. It’s currently run by Joyce, Tim and Jenny Coleman.

However, just ahead of the 2025 season, the owners announced that the track wouldn’t hold any events in the season.

They stated last year, “We have decided not to open in the 2025 season. We will see what the future holds at a later date.”

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series was forced to move a race from PRP to Atomic Speedway after the schedule was released.

Now, on Christmas Eve, the track owners announced that the track is for sale.

Portsmouth Raceway Park: Statement

They opened, “We at Portsmouth Raceway Park would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”

“We appreciate the 34 years we have spent together and the memories and friendships that were made will last a lifetime. Thank you for showing up and showing out, you all helped build our business into ‘PRP IS THE PLACE TO BE.’ “

“We have had THE BEST CO-WORKERS, SPONSORS, VENDORS, RACE TEAMS AND FANS!!! With out all of you we would have never been able to do what we did for that many years! We will forever be grateful to each and everyone of you!”

“With that being said, we have decided to sell our track, she deserves someone who can put the time and love into it like we did. Interested parties, feel free to message us, SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY.”

“Thank you everyone and Merry Christmas.”
