Jimmie Johnson confirms his NASCAR Cup Series team will run three charter entries in 2027
Legacy Motor Club currently runs two full-time cars. Both of them are charter entries in the NASCAR Cup Series with drivers John Hunter Nemechek and Erik Jones.
Legacy Motor Club attempted to purchase a third charter from Rick Ware Racing. However, agreements and confusion on the deal landed them both in court.

The charter currently held by RWR is being leased to RFK Racing. RFK is using it on the No. 60 car with driver Ryan Preece.
LMC and RWR were able to reach a settlement. Per the agreement, Legacy will take over the charter, completing the purchase. However, that charter won’t move to Legacy until the 2027 season which will then make LMC a three car operation.

“Very excited about that. Our commitment to growth will be able to attract and recruit the right individuals to help come in and really grow the workforce for this third car.”
Johnson concluded, “All the benefits that come with running an additional car will help speed up our process.”
Legacy Motor Club has not announced their driver for the third entry in 2027.
