Inspection issues for NASCAR Cup Series teams at Darlington Raceway

NASCAR is racing this weekend at the 1.366-mile of Darlington Raceway. For the NASCAR Cup Series drivers, it marks the first time the higher horsepower package is being used at Darlington.

The race is scheduled for Sunday. Today, cars rolled to the track for practice and qualifying. However, before cars are allowed on the track, they must pass multiple inspection points.

The cars driven by Chase Elliott, Chris Buescher and Timmy Hill all failed two times on their attempts through inspection. Per the rules, NASCAR will ejected the car chief for all three teams.

Additionally, all three teams will lose pit selection for Sunday’s race.

Car chief: Dylan Roberts

All three were able to pass on their third attempt through the line. They will take part in qualifying.

Pre-Qualifying

The following includes various levels of inspection penalties:

1 Failure
No Penalty

2 Failures
Crew member of NASCAR’s choosing ejected. Additionally, the team loses pit selection.

3 Failures
Not permitted to qualify plus above penalty. They also have to serve a pass-through penalty at the start of the race.
