Chandler Smith was told he won a $50K bonus after the finish at Bristol Motor Speedway; That’s not correct
On Friday night, Bristol Motor Speedway hosted the NASCAR Truck Series. The race was a Triple Truck Challenge event.
For the Triple Truck Challenge, any full-time NASCAR Truck Series drivers can earn a $50K bonus. However, to earn that, they must win the race.
Seven NASCAR Cup Series drivers were in the field. That set a record for the most Cup Series drivers to ever start a Truck Series race. Cup driver, Christopher Bell drove to victory lane.
Chandler Smith was told he won a $50K bonus
Chandler Smith finished the race as the highest finisher of the Truck Series drivers. And after the race, he was told that he won the $50K bonus.
A graphic on the screen stated, “Finished 2nd. Wins $50K Triple Truck Bonus.”
The FOX interviewer told Smith, “I think your boss will be pretty proud because you get the $50K bonus.”
Smith responded, “Wait! I didn’t know that. No way. That’s good right there. I wasn’t expecting that.”
Except, that’s not true at all.
Chandler Smith did not win the $50K bonus like we he was told. He was one position away from claiming the bonus.
Smith added via X, “Ended up P2, was absolutely jacked to find out we won the 50k… just to get told AFTER the interview we didn’t win it. Oh well don’t rob me now!”
Corey Heim entered the race with a chance for a $350K bonus. He would have claimed that with a race win. That would have brought his total to $500K for winning all three of the Triple Truck Challenge events. Heim was crashed from the race lead.
Bristol Race Results: April 10, 2026 (NASCAR Truck Series)
