Watch the video of Bubba Wallace’s crash at Texas Motor Speedway
This weekend, NASCAR is racing at Texas Motor Speedway. Just moments ago, the NASCAR Cup Series drivers touched the track for the opening round of practice.
With 3 minutes remaining in the first practice group, Bubba Wallace found the wall.
Right at the center of the corner, the rear end stepped out. Wallace went backwards up the banking and slammed the outside wall.
“I tried to downshift,” Bubba Wallace stated over the team radio of his attempt to keep it out of the wall.
The car picked up heavy damage. Wallace will likely need a backup car.
Practice has since resumed. Qualifying is up next.
Bubba Wallace comments
Wallace was checked and released from the infield care center after the crash:
“This is Texas, it’s treacherous,” Bubba Wallace told Prime.
“I was wondering if I got too high, and it looks like I had a decent arch, and felt a little loose, but then it just came around so fast. Unfortunate. Our guys have had a really long week getting this Chumba Casino Camry ready, and now I just gave them an even longer day today.”
Wallace added, “So, unfortunate, but we’ll be fine. We’ve got the best group in the garage and work hard tonight and put on a show tomorrow.”
