23XI Racing employee suspended by NASCAR after an arrest at Charlotte

A golf cart incident at Charlotte Motor Speedway resulted in the arrest

Over the weekend, NASCAR raced at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Coca-Cola 600 event is NASCAR’s longest race.

On Wednesday, NASCAR announced that Evanna Howell has been suspended. No details were announced with the penalty report.

However, recent arrest records have added detail.

Howell, 35 has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon per Cabarrus County records. The police report states that a 77-year-old man was struck by a golf cart at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 23, around 1:45pm.

Howell has since been released from the Cabarrus County jail with a bond of $125,000 posted.

A court date has been scheduled for June 16.

Howell is an employee of 23XI Racing. They field two full-time cars in the NASCAR Cup Series with drivers Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick. The team is co-owned by Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan.

The team has not issued a statement after the arrest.
