NASCAR has issued multiple suspensions after Charlotte

Four NASCAR members have been suspended after the race weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Over the weekend, NASCAR raced at Charlotte Motor Speedway. On Wednesday, NASCAR issued four penalties across the NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series.

Additionally, the appeals panel has reviewed the penalty for Ryan Preece crashing Ty Gibbs. They have elected to uphold the penalty.

Penalties

Driver/Team: Katherine Legge No. 78

Date: 5/24/2026 (post-race inspection)

Level: Safety

Infraction: Sections 8.8.10.4.A&D: Tires and Wheels Note: Loss or separation of an improperly installed tire/wheel from the vehicle during the event.

Penalty: Crew members (Ian Schulz and Deiontae Jones) have been suspended from the next two NASCAR Cup Series Championship points events, through Michigan International Speedway, June 7, 2026.

NASCAR Xfinity Series
Penalties

Driver/Team: Ross Chastain No. 9

Date: 5/23/2026 (post-race inspection)

Level: Safety

Infraction: Sections 8.8.10.4a: Tires and Wheels (Note: Lug nut(s) not properly installed.)

Penalty: Michael Roberts has been suspended from the next NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Championship points event, through and including Pocono Raceway, June 13, 2026. Team has been fined $5,000.

Level: Behavioral

Infraction: Sections 4.4 A

Penalty: Indefinitely suspended from NASCAR.
