Indianapolis 500 race results for the IndyCar Series
350,000 fans are in attendance at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The 2.5-mile track is set to host the Indy 500.

David Malukas, Alexander Rossi and Alex Palou set the front row. 200 laps of open wheel racing are up next…
Race Report
Green flag, Plaou gets the jump. Rossi has a run and rolls the outside into turn one. Rossi takes the lead away. Palou has a run into turn three, Palou returns to the lead. Rossi pulls out of line once more and he leads lap 1.
Lap 16, Palou to the lead. Rossi and Palou continue to swap the lead.
Lap 18, Ryan Hunter-Reay spins off turn two. Katherine Legge swerves to avoid him and she tags the inside wall. The caution is out.
Palou leads most of the field to the pit lane. Four cars stay out. VeeKay and Grosjean take over the front row.
Green, Grosjean dives inside of VeeKay into turn one. Ed Carpenter is hard into the wall behind them after contact with Sato, caution.
Green, Collet rolls the outside into turn one and he takes the lead away from Grosjean. Palou follows him through for 2nd.
Lap 32, Palou pulls to the outside lane and he swings around Callet for the lead.
Lap 34, three wide for the lead into turn one. Conor Daly to the lead and the crowd erupts.
Lap 40, Palou to the lead.
Lap 63, Palou pits from the race lead. He brings many with him.
Pit cycle
Lap 66, the pit cycle is complete. Palou leads Rosenqvist and Malukas.
Lap 78, Dixon to the lead. Palou and Dixon continue to swap the lead as the teammates save fuel.
Lap 92, Will Power slows and spins on the apron, caution.
Dixon leads the field to the pit lane. He leads Palou to the pit exit. Rossi is done for the day with smoke billowing.
Red flag
Lap 106, Red flag due to weather. All cars are being pulled to the pit lane.
After a short delay, Palou swings around the outside of Dixon into turn one. Malukas follows him through for 2nd. He works inside of Palou down the back. Malukas to the lead.
Lap 116, the caution is out for weather.
Green, Newgarden clips the curbing and spins. He backs it hard into the wall and the caution is back out.
Green, Palou and Daly split Malukas. Daly leads into turn one. Palou pulls out of line down the back, McLaughlin to the lead.
Lap 134, Daly back to the lead. McLaughlin and Palou trail.
Lap 135, McLaughlin and Palou clear Daly. Daly throws a block on Dixon to hold 3rd.
Lap 136, Palou clears McLaughlin for the lead.
Lap 137, McLaughlin to the lead and Daly follows him through for 2nd. They continue to change the lead lap after lap. Daly to the lead!
Lap 139, three wide for the lead. Palou takes the lead away.
Pit cycle
Lap 147, they continue to swap the race lead. David Malukas to the front.
Lap 148, Malukas dives for the pit lane with McLaughlin. Another pit cycle is underway. Palou and others head for the pit lane a lap later.
Rosenqvist and O’Ward are running long and he’ll try to make it on just one more stop.
34 to go, Malukas cycles back to the lead. Palou trails by 1 second.
33 to go, Palou to the lead. He and Malukas swap the lead lap after lap.
26 to go, Malukas leads Palou by 2 seconds.
25 to go
25 to go, Malukas pits for the final time from the race lead. Palou follows a lap later.
24 to go, O’Ward leads Rosenqvist by 1 second. Both of them are saving fuel and hoping to make it to the end.
16 to go, O’Ward leads Rosenqvist and Armstrong. All three are trying to make it to the end. Malukas runs 4th, 18 seconds behind them.
15 to go, Rosneqvist has a run on O’Ward and he takes the lead away!
9 to go, Caio Collet overcorrects, slams the wall and the caution is out. IndyCar has thrown the red flag. Collet climbs out on his own.
Green with 4 to go, Rosenqvist, O’Ward and Armstrong form three wide into turn one! Armstrong is clear for the lead! Malukas follows him through on the outside for 2nd. Mick Schumacher brushes wall behind them, caution.
Green with 1 to go, Armstrong leads Malukas at the jump. Malukas works to his outside and he’s clear into turn one!
Malukas throws a block on Rosenqvist off turn four! Rosenqvist jumps to the outside.
