Tommy Baldwin Jr departs Rick Ware Racing

The NASCAR Cup Series team has parted ways with their competition director

Tommy Baldwin Jr was the competition director at Rick Ware Racing. The team runs the No. 51 car full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series.

This week, Baldwin announced that he is no longer with the team.

“We decided, Rick and I, that our expectations were not aligned anymore,” Tommy Baldwin Jr stated via the Door Bumper Clear podcast.

He added, “We decided, without ruining our friendship, which we have a really good friendships, it was decided to go different ways.”

Baldwin Jr has previously served as a NASCAR Cup Series crew chief in 630 races. He’s gone to victory lane five times, most recently in 2005 with Kasey Kahne.

He noted that he is taking a break but he is also exploring options for the future. There has been no comment from RWR.
