Listen to the team radio, “Four tires! What are we doing?”
On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series raced on the 1-mile of New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Denny Hamlin entered the race at the point leader.
“Enchiladas,” was the call over the radio.
Teams regularly use code words on if they are going to pit on not. In this case, “Enchiladas” meant that the No. 11 team was coming to the pit lane with 96 laps to go in the race.
Hamlin was called into his stall as he approached, “We’re coming. Be ready. 3… 2… 1…”
And as he pulled into his stall, only the gasman jumped over the wall. Every other crew member sat on the pit box side of the wall. They didn’t get the memo that “Enchiladas” was the call to pit.
“Four tires guys! Go, go, go! Four tires! Four tires! What are we doing?”

Denny Hamlin comments on the pit crew miscommunication
“We were a pedestrian today just didn’t quite have it,” Dennyh Hamlin told USA Sports.
“The pit stop thing. Just a miscommunication there.”
“A decent claw back. But, I live week-to-week, and on this track, we gotta get better. We haven’t had it on the last couple.”
“These are our bad days. But, I feel good we’re are team is. We’re just not as good as the Penske cars on these types of racetracks.”
“Looking forward to get The Chase started and see how it goes.”
