“My move last week at Martinsville is not something they are going to put into a commercial.”
Carson Hocevar has grabbed the headlines all year. He’s in his third season of full-time NASCAR Cup Series competition and his team just handed him a suspension.
The 23-year-old will not be racing this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Justin Haley will be driving the No. 77.
This comes after Hocevar applied multiple brake checks on Austin Cindric during the race last weekend at Martinsville Speedway. The damage to the nose of Cindric was extensive enough to send him behind the wall.
Spire Motorsports suspended their own driver as a result of his actions. And, NASCAR issued a hefty fine as well.

Ahead of the race weekend, Hocevar has posted a video as he addresses the situation…
“This could be beneficial for me,” Carson Hocevar stated. “For my growth, in the sport.”
“I just think it’s really important that I can be aggressive, but still have some sort of respect for the garage. Respect for my fellow competitors, respect for the sport.”
“They have the slogan of, ‘protecting the shield’ as in the NFL. NASCAR, it’s actions detrimental.”
“My move last week at Martinsville is not something they are going to put into a commercial. It’s not something I’m going to put into a highlight reel. It’s not cool to wreck somebody from behind.”
Hocevar added, “It’s embarrassing and desrespectful and so, I have to own it.”
