SLMR Series becomes Malvern Bank Super Late Models
The Nebraska based SLMR Series may still have the same title sponsor, but the series has a new name and a new logo.
Going forward, the series will be known as the Malvern Bank Super Late Models. The new dirt late model series logo is highlighted below.
Jay Burdic and the Malvern Bank of Malvern, Iowa has been a big supporter of the series for several years and will be an even bigger supporter in 2017, but the name of the series will change. It will become the Malvern Bank Super Late Models.
Series Director Joe Kosiski says “the series has a bigger point fund in 2017 and a bigger purse at our events thanks to series sponsor Jay Burdic and the Malvern Bank. But we have not raised the cost to the tracks that we visit.” Feature races in 2017 will pay $400 to start.
To celebrate this being the series’ tenth year at the season finale on September 30 at I-80 Speedway the purse will be increased by an additional $10,000 over the normal series purse with that feature paying $500 just to start. Any driver who is a member of the series and misses one series race or less in 2017 will be guaranteed a spot in that feature event.
The September 30 feature will also start two additional cars, 24 versus the normal 22 before adding any driver who has not made the feature but qualifies as outlined above. “We have started as many as 36 cars at I-80, so starting additional cars will not be a problem.” continues Kosiski.
The series just released its exciting 2017 schedule which includes 21 events at tracks in Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Missouri and Kansas. New stops for the series in 2017 include the Thunder Hill Speedway near Mayetta, Kansas and Heartland Park in Topeka.
Given the tighter point races the last couple of seasons and with new drivers committing to run the series, 2017 looks to be one of the most exciting seasons in series history.
