Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at Ponderosa Speedway cancelled

Ponderosa Speedway officials have announced they will suspend operations at the 3/8-mile oval

BATAVIA, OH (August 20, 2017) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY on Friday, August 25 has been canceled.

Ponderosa Speedway Promoter, Jamie Stumph informed Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series officials on Sunday that he will suspend operations at the 3/8-mile oval, effective immediately. “It has been a tough year for us financially,” commented Stumph. “I felt it was time to move on before I got to the point that I didn’t enjoy racing any longer.”

“It is unfortunate to lose an event on such short notice,” said Rick Schwallie, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Director. “However, we respect Jamie and his staff for bringing this to our attention before the situation escalated.”

Ponderosa Speedway closed

The stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will travel to Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN on Saturday, August 26 for the Whiskey City 60. The event will be a complete show of: Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and a 60-lap, $12,000-to-win main event.
